Lady At The Bay

She waited for him everyday
Her eyes fixed to every ship coming towards the bay
she spent more time on the bench
Than in her cottage few steps away
She did not want him to think she is not around
And just walk away

Days turned into weeks
and week into months
Months sped by too
and transformed into years
Just when she had lost hope that he would come back
She saw a black spot beginning to transform into a ship
As it came closer her heart beat grew faster
She knew it was her lover returning to her!

The ship seemed familiar
And the feeling within her made it sure
That it was no one else but he who had come
Now she was sure no one would come in between them
She walked a few steps towards the ship
As it reached the shore
Her face was lit with joy
When out from the ship stepped the man she adored
He walked to her and taking her in his strong arms
Kissed her thus making up for the lost years

Suddenly, the sky darkened and it began to rain
Her dream was shattered and she was back to reality again
There was no ship, no man around
She felt warm tears flow on her cheeks
And the pain in her heart of a fresh wound

She still waits for her man to come
She still sits at the bay
She still feels he would return
And she still waits for him everyday
