Raven in the grey winter
In the cold night of winter
Somewhere in December
When the breezy wind moves about
As though it was blown by sleepy Winter Cloud
As dark as it may be
Shadows of dead trees can be seen
Branches swing from left to right
Like a hundred hands reaching toward the sky for light
A creature that haunts the night
Is sometimes caught in sight
Its eyes glow so red
Those who look? will meet their fate
She rests weakly on a branch
Her body is telling her she’s drenched
Each tear that flows from her eyes
Sparkles with sadness and lies
The curse whispers through the shadows
Crying out soft miserable woes
It crawls and creeps slowly around her
Like a devil’s toddler
She spreads her wings to fly
Only to fall deeper into the cries
She struggles in the shadow of death
She’s about to lose her breath
In the grey winter of misery
Making the sky feel sorrow and sorry
The creature weeps
Because the curse lives forever

Kalyan- Birthdays are Fun.
“Birthdays are fun, but too many can kill” The gazelle gambols in the grass, The circling kite glides through the air; Without a worry crossing their minds Life has a limit, they do not know, And one day they have to die! Men go through their mundane lives, Chasing paltry things and petty ends Without a worry crossing their minds Life has a limit, although they know, And one day they have to die! Greetings on Birthday, they are pleased to get Forgetting that every Birthday means One step nearer to their final end; Life has a limit, they do not remember, And one day they have to die! One would think that men would wear The haunted look of the hunted prey The sword of Damacles, the gene-set alarm Frightening them with the perpetual thought That one day they have to die! But not this curious creature the Man Fool or Philosopher, I do not know,- Blithely he carries on, without a care, Brushing away all fleeting thoughts That one day he has to die! --- --- --- --- --- --- |

Kalai : My Pomegranate Tree!
and suck the nectar first!
Shiny leaves smile green
to show flowers in red sheen!
Drooping down like bells unsung
they wait for the bees to pollinate!
Swishing through the evening breeze
humming birds flock these trees!
Brimming full with elixir of life
A fruit of passion waits for you!
Rejuvenating my veins with oxidants
Makes my love life vigor with cheer!
After a cool drizzle of summer rain
the green leaves wave and shine!
You give me hope for a healthy life
and help me come out of strife !

Kalai : Living moments!
Moments dissolove into thin air
Making seconds tick away !
Swirling emotions choke my heart
And leave me gasping for breath !
Dragging gray clouds pass away
and chuckle at my greased day !
Streaks of light slowly fade
and stealthily invite a parade !
Glistening eyes with tears
blink and take away all my fears !
Parades of thoughts catch me unaware
Yet, something is there to share !

Kalai : Reflections !
Speckles of fine dust
rest on the petals of tiny flower and
glisten in the morning sun !
Astrayed thoughts reach nowhere and
reach for a blank stare !
Rays of hope enter life
And something awaits to strife !
Blistering emotions bulge and shine ...
When pricked at large..
they broke and scatter ahead !
Keeping pace with my pain...
I fail to understand my gain !

What poetry means to me !
With blinking stars starring at me
She walks along with me
and making me feel at ease !
When tears fail to express my agony
She makes me pen my feelings in harmony !
She lets me relax as in a lover's hands
and cherish our moments together !
Whenever things fail to be
She is there to cheer up as it should be !

THE DREAMY DRYAD
The distant star gleams,
On a blushing pink sky.
The world seems drowned,
In the lark’s melodious cry.
The trees are ablossom,
With dimpled dainty flowers.
The Dreamy Dryad dreams,
With her eyes gazing afar.
Little Dreams slowly evolve,
From the swirls of the soul.
One by one they emerge,
Crowning the day in gold.
The moon is all aglimmer,
As the sun slowly sets away.
The sky is a hollow of dreams,
Churned by airy hands for the next day.
The fairies flock the rippling pool,
To drink to their heart’s content.
The elixir of life-so sweet so eternal,
Flowing as dreams all along dreamt!
The horizon is drenched,
In velvet purple and gold.
The wind god plays the breeze
Singing tales of new and old!
The Dreamy Dryad beholds with
Her spirit drunk in bliss
As with a sudden sweeping blow,
The sky with stars is kissed.
Magic brewed in the sky, in the land,
An orison is played by nature’s hand.
The Dreamy Dryad whispered along in pray,
“God be blessed, blessed be man!”
the lonely path
Strewn across the sands of time,
Li'l stones bright and shiny
Throw off the track one too many
Sojourners in quest of greater things
'Life is short, make it sweet-
Pleasures are too many to eat'-
The rocks tempt the sojourners brave
To stand still and search no more.
Tempted am I by Eden's fruits
To stop and rest and stand still,
To trade my searchlight for the wine cup,
To take no thought for the day to come
But to live a coward's life- Satisfied
With present lest the future be sad.
Countless crusaders have erred fatally
To stop and let sweep the tide of time,
To erase them forever from human thought
Failing the goal they once sought.
Not I, I decide and plod on my path-
The lonely path to an uncertain future.
